Putting on make up for Teeners

I would like to  share with you my niece's school activity last week. She was chosen to be Grade 9's class representative in the School's Beauty Pageant with "Water" as the theme. Just like the usual pageants, it will be broken into several parts - presentation of candidates, themed-gown, talent portion and of course the formal wear. Of course as an Aunt, I was tasked to do the make up and hairdo - which of course made me so happy, excited and scared at the same time. I was really happy because I will be able to do what I love doing and also scared because it will be my first time to do a make up on a teener. Doing make up for a grown woman is way  easier than doing it on a teenager. Why? - simply because they are young and you don't want them to look way older than they are. At their age, you really don't need to hide their features by piling on loads of make up, instead you should highlight them to bring out their natural beauty.

So here's what I did.... Enjoy!

(FACE)
I used Cover Girl's Clean Make up Foundation #220 and Careline's Oil Control Liquid Make up (Oriental) to absorb excess oil. I also used EB Advance HD Make up cake (Soft Ivory)  just to lighten up her under eye area.

(EYES)
My niece has thick and clearly-defined brows so I did not bother filling them. I just went ahead and used a clear mascara and brushed them up to have a little bit of arch. I used Oseur Colorrifies Shimmery Powder (#802 white) as a base, an aqua blue eyeshadow from MAC and the "blackout" shade from Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette. I also used Max Factor Xperience Eyeliner, Lancome Fatale  01 black mascara and dabbed on a little "bootycall" (UD  Naked 2) on the inner corner of her eyes.

(CHEEKS)
I just used Nichido's powder blush in tomato.

(LIPS)
I used 2 lipsticks by the way- NYX Narcissus for her themed-gown and Excel Paris #501 for her formal wear.

Sea Nymph Make Up 02.09.13

After months of hibernating, I'm finally back..  :)

Anyways, to kick-start this love month, here's what I tried to recreate for my niece's school pageant. The theme of their pageant was "Water" and thus the term "Sea Nymph" came to my mind.

For the first picture, I made use of aqua blue, black and silver sequins and glued them on to my brows to make them look like "fish scales". It was really fun doing it but the only mistake I did was - make use of my lash grip eyelash adhesive instead of a different one. Oh boy, I really did make a boo-boo. It took me almost half an hour to take each sequin off my brow. Hahaha!

Moving on to make up products, I used 2 shades of blue eyeshadow from my ever-reliable, everyday eyeshadow mini palette - Aido. I used shade number 3 as my base and the darker shade number 8. For my cheeks I used Nichido Cool Rum  and NYX Narcissus for my lips.

Here, I just used rhinestones... actually lots of them! hahaha. And this time, I just used a regular transparent glue to stick them on to my temples and cheekbones. LoL!
Same products were used but I dabbed on some purple on my crease to add more color (shade number 10).

Enjoy and have fun creating your take on Sea Nymph make up or any fantasy-inspired characters you might have in mind.
