Putting on make up for Teeners

I would like to  share with you my niece's school activity last week. She was chosen to be Grade 9's class representative in the School's Beauty Pageant with "Water" as the theme. Just like the usual pageants, it will be broken into several parts - presentation of candidates, themed-gown, talent portion and of course the formal wear. Of course as an Aunt, I was tasked to do the make up and hairdo - which of course made me so happy, excited and scared at the same time. I was really happy because I will be able to do what I love doing and also scared because it will be my first time to do a make up on a teener. Doing make up for a grown woman is way  easier than doing it on a teenager. Why? - simply because they are young and you don't want them to look way older than they are. At their age, you really don't need to hide their features by piling on loads of make up, instead you should highlight them to bring out their natural beauty.

So here's what I did.... Enjoy!

(FACE)
I used Cover Girl's Clean Make up Foundation #220 and Careline's Oil Control Liquid Make up (Oriental) to absorb excess oil. I also used EB Advance HD Make up cake (Soft Ivory)  just to lighten up her under eye area.

(EYES)
My niece has thick and clearly-defined brows so I did not bother filling them. I just went ahead and used a clear mascara and brushed them up to have a little bit of arch. I used Oseur Colorrifies Shimmery Powder (#802 white) as a base, an aqua blue eyeshadow from MAC and the "blackout" shade from Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette. I also used Max Factor Xperience Eyeliner, Lancome Fatale  01 black mascara and dabbed on a little "bootycall" (UD  Naked 2) on the inner corner of her eyes.

(CHEEKS)
I just used Nichido's powder blush in tomato.

(LIPS)
I used 2 lipsticks by the way- NYX Narcissus for her themed-gown and Excel Paris #501 for her formal wear.

Sea Nymph Make Up 02.09.13

After months of hibernating, I'm finally back..  :)

Anyways, to kick-start this love month, here's what I tried to recreate for my niece's school pageant. The theme of their pageant was "Water" and thus the term "Sea Nymph" came to my mind.

For the first picture, I made use of aqua blue, black and silver sequins and glued them on to my brows to make them look like "fish scales". It was really fun doing it but the only mistake I did was - make use of my lash grip eyelash adhesive instead of a different one. Oh boy, I really did make a boo-boo. It took me almost half an hour to take each sequin off my brow. Hahaha!

Moving on to make up products, I used 2 shades of blue eyeshadow from my ever-reliable, everyday eyeshadow mini palette - Aido. I used shade number 3 as my base and the darker shade number 8. For my cheeks I used Nichido Cool Rum  and NYX Narcissus for my lips.

Here, I just used rhinestones... actually lots of them! hahaha. And this time, I just used a regular transparent glue to stick them on to my temples and cheekbones. LoL!
Same products were used but I dabbed on some purple on my crease to add more color (shade number 10).

Enjoy and have fun creating your take on Sea Nymph make up or any fantasy-inspired characters you might have in mind.

Lippies and Liners

I just wanna share with you my favorite lipsticks and lipliners. I use these when I go to work or go out with friends or when I'm just my loved-ones. Let me warn you though, there are no lip glosses here. I just  don't wear them. (I really don't like that icky feeling that you have something sticky on your lips! haha).

1).  This is my favorite from the bunch! -  Cavalli Clove Lipliner Color number 26. I used to stay away from lippies which are too  bright and too pink since I'm scared that I might look older. But this one really flatters my skin tone!

2). Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush (Limelight) - This is a gorgeous fuchsia shade from VS.

3). Ever Bilena Pro Lipliner (Stock#13915) - I believe all of you would agree that red lipsticks are a must! It's like having your own little black dress. I normally wear this when I feel too lazy to put on make up. I just do my eyebrows, curl my lashes and put on a red lipstick and I'm ready to go.

4). Mac (Photo) - This is one of the 4 MAC products in this post that a friend gave me as a "pasalubong" when she was in Singapore. These are just replicas but hey who am I not to accept any gifts from a dear friend? These are gorgeous finds and I'm rockin' it and ownin' it (hahaha)

5). NYX Round Lipstick (Hermes) - Oooh another favorite of mine.. There was a phase in my life that all I wanted was nude-colored lipsticks. And unfortunately this is the only product that survived that era! Lol.

6). Mac (Shy Girl) -  These are the 3 remaining replica products that a friend gave me.
7). Mac Barbie (No.9)
8). Mac Barbie (No.12)

9). NYX Round Lipstick (Narcissus) - I'm gonna let you in on a secret - this is the very first time I've ever used this product since I bought it a year ago... I don't know, I just can't find the right occasion to wear this. Though It's too bright for me, I just couldn't let it go...

10). Nars Lipliner (Color M18) - This lipliner spells "F-U-C-H-S-I-A". And when I say fuchsia, it is literally vivid reddish, purplish and magenta-inspired color! I super love this liner!

11).  NYX Round Lipstick (Paris) - Now this is the kind of pink shade that I really really really, I mean really really like.

12). Secret  Lipliner (Color No. 13) - Here's another barely-there colored lipliner.  I use this when I put on smokey and dark eyeshadows. Since I already have a very dramatic eye make up, I pair it up with this super subtle nude lipliner.

September Haul

I'm back with my new favorite make up items for this month.   :)

1).  First up, BLUSHES...
I have been using Nichido and Fashion 21 blushes for 2 more than years now and I just can't replace them since they seem to work flawlessly fine for me. Here are my favorite shades :

First one from the left is Nichido Tomato (Php88), next is Fashion 21 no. 9 (Php125), and my ever favorite of all 4 is of course Nichido Cool Rum (Php88) and the last one is Nichido Sunkissed (Php88).

Here's what they looks like on my skin

2) This is a new one for me. Just so you know, I am an avid Maybelline BB Cream user and I haven't tried anything else on me except that. But a friend of mine, suggested that I try this one from Avon. I haven't tried this on my face yet, but this looks promising.
This AVON's take on the BB Cream fad (Healthy Make up Hydrating BB Cream). I chose the B03 shade which is Nude and it costs Php299. Well, it's almost the same price as Maybelline which is Php250.
It says on the package that it has SPF 30 and it's the hydrating version which is infused with skin-loving vitamin complex and hydration essence. Skin is nourished and hydrated at the same time, Dermatologist tested and suitable for sensitive skin. Not bad ey? I can't wait to try this on.

3) I also bought San San Concealer Age Defense. (I also haven't tried this one of my face yet). I bought these at HBC for Php126. It has SPF15, vitamins A, C, E and the shade I chose is number 2.

4) Lip liners! Yey! I don't really wear lip liners. But when I tried this one, that pink item below , I don't know what made me hooked on it that I almost wear it everyday. My favorite is the Cavalli Clove Eye and Lip liner pencil color number 26 (Php100). It's the first item on the left picture and on the swatches below, it's the middle or the second one. You'll get to see how it looks on me when I do one of my make up sessions in the coming days.  Anyway, the second one is called Secret Soft Fine Precision Eye and Lip liner Pencil in number 13 color (Php100). That's the first swatch I made in the picture below. And lastly, I bought an Ever Bilena Pro Lip liner in red color for Php60. I don't really know what the exact color is since it's not indicated there but the stock  number says 13915.

5) I'm not really picky when it comes to Eyeliners. I have been using this item for more than 5 years now and I never had any problems with it. This is Qiaoer Eyeliner Pencil in brown. I usually buy this particular eyeliner in Isetann for only Php10 but I stumbled upon this website that sells this stuff by a dozen online and it only costs Php55 or Php57, I'm sorry I'm really bad at remembering numbers. But if you want to get price-cut items just like in Tutuban or 168, you better visit this site. This is very convenient for those people who are super busy like me and have no time to go there.

Dollhouse

6) I also got a Fashion 21 single eyeshadow in brown. This is super convenient since it's very small and can easily fit in your pouch or "kikay kit".

7) There are just extra items that I thought would be cute and fit in my pouch. Haha.
Studded Pocket Size Mirror for only Php25 which I bought at Isetann. A Marionnaud Slanted Eyeline and Eyebrows double side brush for Php59.75 at Shopwise. And lastly, 2 freebies. 1 Fashion 21 Clear Lipgloss and Baxi Pink lipgloss which came with my Cavalli Clove Pink Lip liner.

How to repair your broken face powder and blushes

Don't you hate it when this happens?

Over a week ago, my Maybelline Shine-Free Cake Powder and F21 Duo Blush-on fell and shattered into bits.  I really love these two products since they are very compact, lightweight and they fit perfectly in my pouch.  But since I didn't want these items to be put to waste, I decided to repair / save them.
This is very easy and simple to do, these are all you need : a toothpick with a flat end tip and empty sifter jars.

Another commonly used way  you can repair your broken blushes or face powder is by RePressing with the use of alcohol. But as for me, I'm gonna create my own loose pigment product out of these broken and shattered bits.

First up, what you need to do is get your toothpick and  break up the remaining chunks of the blushes or face powder. Then with the flat tip of the toothpick, just continue pressing on to create that even powder-like consistency. Once you've reached your desired consistency, transfer them all in a clean sifter jar.  And voila, you're all done!

You can also use this simple technique to your broken eyeshadow palettes or bronzers.
So, here's what it looks like when done.

Enjoy applying with a brush!

Nails! Nails! Nails!

I never really liked putting or applying polishes on my nails as well as growing them long. When I was in College I remember my friends putting on different pastel colors on each nail, some were obsessed with nude and earth tone colors, while others just have this black "gothic-like" theme going on. Well I don't know about them but I remember I was like, "Hell no! those things won't touch my nails, ever!". Well... well... well.. me and my big mouth! haha...

So, after being "polish-less" for a couple of decades (lol!), here I am,  going gaga over nail polishes. The other day I bought quite a number of polishes to start off this "growing addiction". I bought these nail polishes at Isetann Cubao for a great price.

Look younger in an instant

We all want to look good and look younger even if we are in our late 30's already.  We sometimes resort to buying age defying skin products or even undergoing extensive physical or aesthetic surgeries.  If I may quote Madeline Ashton, (Meryl Streep in "Death becomes her") "WRINKLE WRINKLE Little star, hope they never see the scars". Hahaha. If you've seen this movie, then you know what I'm talking about. But looking younger doesn't need to be costly. There are a lot of practical ways of becoming ageless and you don't even need to shell out large amounts of money like promoting a healthy lifestyle. You may engage in a daily physical exercise, break old habits i.e smoking and drinking,  and etcetera. (As for me, I decided to enroll in a gym for a group dance exercise. Though it's a bit tiring, I am enjoying every minute of it).

But anyway, enough of that...As I was saying there are a lot of practical ways to make you look younger in an instant. You may put on a concealer to cover those frown lines, wrinkles or crow
s feet, you may also cut back on wearing too much make up or just use those organic ones that don't have harmful chemicals, eat fruits than binging on junk foods OR you may just simply cut your hair and don a brow-skimming bangs. But  If you are worried about how bangs will look on you, the good news is that at least one of the styles of bangs looks good on just about everybody.
ENJOY! :)

Leopard Print Eyeshadow 07.22.12

I have been watching a lot of youtube videos lately and fortunately, I stumbled upon  a tutorial on how to create a gorgeous leopard print eyeshadow. Well it's very easy to do : just apply your base color of your choice onto your lids, (I chose yellow from my Dollface Avant Garde Palette). Then using your black gel or liquid eyeliner draw little c's (you can put as many as you like). Then, just dab a small amount of your brown eyeshadow onto the letter c to create that cute leopard spots. (If you want more drama, just  apply black liner on your lower lids and  create that perfect cat-eye!)

 Tadaah! and you're all done!
Anyways, here's my take on the said tutorial.

EYES:
Dollface Avant-Garde Palette (Yellow and Brown)
Qiaoer Eyeliner Pencil (Brown)

Hengfang 4D architect Mascara

The power of "FALSIES"

Ever wanted to have full, lush and thick lashes? - Well I do...    :)
I actually have long lashes but they are very thin that sometimes you don't even notice that they're there...LoL!

Kidding aside, natural lashes are PERFECTLY fine but if ever you want to have that "wow factor", that certain "UMPH" or to have that ultimate "Eye Drama", I would suggest getting extensions or just put on faux lashes or falsies - As for me, I'd rather do the latter.  but hey, I have nothing against lash extensions,  it's just that it doesn't work for me. I have tried it countless times,  spent thousands of pesos for that and I even went to a very famous salon here in the Metro thrice... yes you read it right, i went there thrice in a span of just 2 months. I paid  for almost Php5000 worth of lashes that comes off after a week. Well, anyway enough of that.. I'm over that! hahaha.. ๏̯̃๏

Basically,  that's the main reason why I switched to applying / putting on falsies instead. Aside from the fact that it's way cheaper and easier to manage, I can just put it on myself at any time or any way I prefer. ☺

So, here's what I used for today's lash application. I bought these lashes from a fellow blogger online for Php100 per pack ( 8 pairs of lashes) and the lash glue was purchased at Hortaleza Cubao for Php90.
Sorry I don't have the brand name since it's written in Chinese, I think..

FMax Eye Putti / Putty

The first picture is right after putting on the lashes. Let me tell you though, that I'm still learning the ropes of the art of putting on falsies. Haha.. Anyway, the other picture below is after applying liquid gel liner to cover up those itsy-bitsy spaces between my upper lashes and eyelid.

*Don't forget to trim the edges of the falsies to match the exact size of your eyes and apply mascara to help your natural lashes and  falsies look like they're the same.

The final look...
